GUEST POST | DERBY SEMIFORMAL

I am out of town for work for a couple of days. I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share some of my favorite sorority bloggers with you all. Carly graciously agreed to do a guest post for me! I absolutely love her blog, Chicago Prepster. Carly is also a Panhellenic Sister! How lucky are we?? I love her idea for this post and I hope you do too! Enjoy!!

There's always one issue that comes up when the theme of a part is announced: do I dress to the theme or not? I think it's always a good idea for your look to have some influence to the party's theme. My Chapter's semiformal is quickly approaching, which means girls are searching for a dress that coincides with the party's theme without over doing it. I've created a look for those of us who aren't fortunate enough to be around the derby culture as much as we'd like; a look for a "Day at the Races" semiformal!

Trade in your stilettos for wedges and chandelier earrings for pearls. You can't go wrong with pink and green and a big sunhat to complete your derby inspired look! Be daring and dress your date in Lilly! I found this great Etsy shop, CCADesigns, that creates dozens of men's bow ties with various Lilly fabrics. How fun would it be for you and your date to wear matching Lilly?

It may seem a little bizarre to those of us in the Midwest who are so accustomed to traditional semiformal wear, but grow out of your comfort zone and put on something bold and colorful. You can still play along with your party's theme while looking classy and elegant!
