HOME DECOR

Lately I have been dying for a little creative outlet in the form of decorating my apartment (yes, the same apartment I am moving out of in just a few months). It is a weird urge actually because part of me wants to take everything off the walls and the other part wants to buy new things to make it more homey. Weird.

Regardless, I have been doing some shopping around for ideas online and have found some that I am toying around with in my head. One of those ideas is what I want the color scheme for my new living room to be. Right now I am working with a whole lot of blah. For inspiration I turned to a couple of bloggers that I follow on Instagram. I have also created a folder on my laptop to drag pictures into whenever I see something that 1) doesn't look too expensive to recreate and 2) is actually my style. Here are some pieces of inspiration I have found:

These prints are actually from Minted. While I don't think I will dish out the money to buy them, they have provided some fun inspiration for future watercolors!

I love these fun pillows!! I am so weird when it comes to playing around with colors and patterns (especially patterns), but I think this is a great mix and brings a lot of color to the room!

I mean seriously. Who wouldn't want a hot pink kitchen? Yes, I am living vicariously through these Instagram pictures.

In the past week I have learned some great places to find inexpensive, but really nice home decor. I have also downloaded some apps that are for sure going to get me in trouble like Ruelala, One Kings Lane, Joss & Main, and Gilt. Finally, I also learned that local thrift shops and vintage stores are my weakness. I found a new one recently that reupholsters and updates furniture so inexpensively! I am so excited to go visit the actually store versus their Facebook page.

I think what is the most important thing to realize when decorating your home is that it is not all going to come together over night. Also, make sure you are getting what you want. I shopped for two weeks for throw pillows before I found exactly what I was looking for.

Where do you like to buy your home decor?
