Formal is such a fun event. It isn't every day that we get to go all out by wearing a new dress, heels, actually doing our hair and makeup, and dine at a swanky venue. We always had formal at a new trendy restaurant/hotel in town that we might not go to on our own.

I loved dress shopping, but I hated actually buying the dress. Formal is always at the end of the semester and I was trying to save up to buy Christmas presents for friends and family. Buying my formal dress always snuck up on me. I rounded up five dresses for less than $125! Actually, four of them are under $60, but I couldn't not include the Gatsby dress. I absolutely love it! These five styles are very in right now and they won't break the bank! Thank goodness for sales, boutiques, and stores like Forever 21. 

Another way to get away with wearing a new dress for formal is to borrow one from a friend! It may be old to her, but it is new to you. Also, there are several places like Rent the Runway where you can rent designer dresses for a fraction of the price.
