I don't know about you, but where I come from football reigns supreme. I have been anticipating the first day of college football season since it ended last season. There is just something about the cooler weather and the beginning of a new school year that makes me giddy and that something is football.
Honestly, I love college football. I make a point to go to a couple of games every year and keep an eye on our opposition. I've even been known the watch conference championship games outside of my own. Though, for me, the fascination ends there. I am not much of a NFL fan at all. I mean I will watch the Super Bowl, but that doesn't hold a candle to the BCS Championship.
One of my favorite parts of college football is tailgating. It is so much fun to hang out with friends, eat some good food, and have a couple of drinks right outside the stadium before a game. Tailgating is the thing to do on Saturdays where I'm from. Part of being up on the social scene is dressing for the social scene.
Another thing about where I'm from (and this may be a giveaway as to what part of the country I live in) is that you dress up for football games. Guys can wear anything between suits, khakis, button-downs, polos, bowties, neckties, loafers, etc. #swoon It is very rare that you ever see a guy in shorts or jeans, especially fraternity men. As for the girls, we wear dresses, cute pants and tops, shorts and cute tops, etc. Hair is completely done, makeup is fully on, and heels may make an appearance.
Sometimes it can be hard to find clothes to wear in your exact school colors without it looking like you are wearing the opponents colors (a big no-no). Luckily, there are adorable little shops all over the place to help you manage your gameday attire. One of my favorites is Vestique. Not only do they have super cute options, but they have an entire section dedicated to helping you find the exact color you need - even broken down by school! I pulled a few of my favorite options:
who doesn't love a good bow?
you could totally pair different color statement necklaces with this dress to make it work for your team
scallops #love
As we all look forward to the kickoff of football season, tell me, what do you wear to games? I know it sometimes tempting to wear a t-shirt or hoodie, but how often do you have a chance to dress up? With football season, almost every week!
Love these gameday looks! This made me look forward to college football season (read tailgating) even more! These dresses are seriously the cutest!
ReplyDeleteMy school doesnt dress up for games but that would be a fun post. Different looks for different kinds of games (south, shorts/tshirts schools, north etc)
