Cute t-shirts. First off if you are only joining a sorority because of the t-shirts you are doing it completely wrong. Reconsider other reasons why it will be valuable for you to join a sorority besides wanting to wear the letters.
Meet girls. As a freshman you have several opportunities to get to meet other people and make new friends. Though this is actually a good reason to join a sorority, there are other obligations you need to take into account besides just the friendship aspect.
Meet guys. I know it may seem impossible, but girls that are not in a sorority meet guys all the time. Also, important to note, that if a guy only wants to date you because you are in a sorority he probably isn't worth your time.
Go to parties. I promise you can still go to parties whether you are in a sorority or not. If that is the only reason you want to join, save your money and time.
To get a job. In this day and economy, you can still get a job whether you are Sisters with the CEO or not. It is all about networking (and yes, a sorority will help you), but it is not the end all, be all.
Because "everyone" does. I understand the pressure if everyone in your family is a member of a Greek letter organization, but you really need to assess if it is for you. I have seen too many girls join because their bestie did and then realize it isn't for them in the long run.
To join a sorority. Do not join just to join. Again, look into what all is entailed in the membership experience. Organizations have done a really good job outlining what is expected of their new members and members. Do your research.
Slide by. If you think joining a sorority will be easy, you are wrong. You will have to put in a lot of time, energy, and dedication to even get initiated. There are meetings you have to attend, grades you have to maintain, and things you have to learn. Sorority women do not simply glide through college. They work hard.
