REALIGNING

I spoke last week of how I was not sure what direction I want to take Your Sorority Sister after attending a trip for work that ended up having a huge affect on me personally. I have been struggling with how I should approach this topic on the blog. When I woke up on Sunday morning, it hit me. After reading through your answers to my latest survey I have discovered some sort of balance.

Let me start at the beginning.

When I first thought of the idea for Your Sorority Sister, it was not to create a blog like you usually see. I love featuring fashion posts (and attribute the development of my personal taste to these) and finding new brands to share with you all, and I will continue to do so. However, my main focus of this blog was to speak on the every day sorority happenings - the sisterhood events, social ideas, philanthropy, and what sorority means to all of us as individuals.

I even created a sort of mission/vision statement:

I feel as though I have done a pretty good job of upholding this statement. The thing is that some times it is not the easiest to blog about your leadership experience or the philanthropy work you have done in comparison to my favorite new nail polish color. As I type this, I realize that it is not the easy choice for you either. It is easy to paint your nails (or to get a manicure for the shaky hands) instead of volunteering your time to do community service or even studying your Ritual. I understand this because I have been in your shoes.

You know that saying that you don't know what you have until it is gone? That is kind of where I am. As a sorority alumna my time of planning chapter sisterhood events, social functions, and philanthropy events is over, but yours is not. You get at most four (maybe five) years to experience all that your sorority membership has to offer. Not one of us accepted our bid to make this experience half of what it is.

With all of that being said, and my rant being over, I promise to give you all a more valuable reading experience. Feel free to always email me if you feel as though I am straying from that promise. Yes, I am still going to do some fashion posts, but I will give you many more real sorority postings.

I don't say it enough, but I love you all and you are simply the best readers and Sisters out there!

Loyally,
Jen
