After watching Miss Universe Wednesday evening, I realized that there is so much that a woman can do to stand out in a crowd. There were women that were absolutely beautiful, but were interested in software engineering and engineering food for the less fortunate. It honestly inspired me to sign up for my next pageant.
It also made me compare their philanthropic efforts with my own, and made me realize that I made the best decision going Greek. I would not have found my love for helping others if it wasn’t for me accepting my bid to my sorority almost 4 years ago.
The majority of campuses have formal recruitment, and they dedicate one particular day to philanthropy. Although they have this day, its usually such a whirlwind that some people may not remember the philanthropy of each particular sorority and reflect upon which one means the most. However, each sorority does so much collectively that we as Greek women are really making a difference in our nation and the world.
The holidays are a great time to reflect on what you have done with your Sisters to make a difference in your community. It may have been required, a competition or just something that a few of your closest friends decided to do on a Saturday. Those little moments are what make the real difference, and the reward is that you have made someone’s day by your actions.
