7 WAYS TO SPEND WINTER BREAK

I know that since the first mention of winter break came during syllabus week you have been imagining yourself doing a whole lot of nothing. I imagined a lot of late nights, Netflix, and sleeping in. So far I have been successful in those endeavors, but at some point or another I have to get out of the house and do something semi-productive. When catching up with friends and co-workers after the break I like to say I did something other than watched all of season 1 of American Horror Story on Netflix in less than a week.

As a warning, this list does not include online shopping, which I can be absolutely awful about. You give me a credit card and a computer and I can find several things to buy that I may not necessarily need. My dears, this is what we call a problem. Okay, so moving on to the productive list.

1. Read. This one is a big duh after my 2 posts about it in the past week. See here for my explanation.

2. Master a recipe. I love cooking. I find myself doing some of my best thinking while I am putting together a dinner or making pancakes for breakfast. Definitely browse Pinterest for some ideas.

3. Winter cleaning. This one does not sound very much fun, but how much stuff did you acquire during the semester? Rid yourself of whatever you do not need anymore. Donate old clothes and organize your life. It will make you feel a lot better during the school year if you are proactive now.

4. Plan a road trip. We have friends that live all over and trust me, they are just as bored as you are. Plan a time to go visit (obviously coordinate this with them) over New Years Eve.

5. Craft. There are so many fun craft ideas that I just do not have time for during the school year. Now is the time to spruce up your apartment or make gifts. Again, see Pinterest.

6. Start a new exercise regiment. This is the ultimate "I did something over winter break." You have plenty of time and energy. Also, why wouldn't you want to shed some of the calories you might take in from all of the goodies around the house?

7. Start a blog. Have you been thinking about starting a blog? Now is the time to do it! I was begging for a creative outlet this time last year and now here is Your Sorority Sister. My best advice is to just do it!

So there you are. Seven ways to spend your winter break. Of course, work in some sleep and Netflix because you have earned it after a semester of hard work!
