BID DAY GIFT IDEAS

Picture this...

It is Bid Day. You are at your house waiting for you chapter's new members to come busting through the front door. You look around and there is (insert sorority colors) and (insert sorority mascot/symbol) everywhere! There are baskets and baskets with the new members' names plastered to them. Suddenly, your mind thinks not of your new members, but whether your (insert Bid Day friend name) will think of her basket of goodies.

Now let's pause.

There is no reason for you to worry about this. Your "friend" is going to be so excited that she is there, that she is hardly going to remember that her friend got a clipboard and she didn't. However, I know I was always the girl that was like, "Ah! Why didn't I think of that?!" It is frustrating. And why should you be frustrated about what to get your "friend" when I can provide you with a comprehensive list of items to put in her basket?

First, let me set forth some ground rules:

1. As much as we all love it, do not buy her anything Lilly Pulitzer. Even if your colors are pink and green, Bid Day is there to create pride in her sorority. Save the Lilly gifts for another day and possibly your actual little sis.

2. Do not splurge. There is no reason to go all out and spend hundreds of dollars. First look around to see what you have that you would be willing to pass down. I guarantee that you have an extra sorority mascot/symbol laying around that you forgot about.

3. Crafts = Hobby Lobby. You can get anything at Hobby Lobby and usually for pretty cheap. Look at their ads before going to see what is on sale. I usually can find canvases or paint for 50% off!

4. If you really want to get your "friend" a gift, see if it comes in a set and split the cost with friends. Then you will all have similar (but different) gifts and it will not be super expensive.

Okay, so now for the list!

Your chapter will most likely provide this, but toss it in her basket!

This girl is going to want to leave your chapter house with some hand-painted letters in her hand. Browse pinterest for some unique ideas.

Hobby Lobby has a ton of wooden frames that are easy to paint. Use your sorority colors.

If you have one laying around that you do not care for, give her that. If not, see what you can find at thrift stores or Walmart.

By koozie I mean one of those big foam ones from Hobby Lobby. Add some puff paint and glitter!

This could be worth the splurge. Your "friend" is going to want to show off her new letters and she can only wear her new t-shirt so many times. Give her a keychain with your letters on it so she can show off a bit.

Add balloons and tissue paper and you are ready to go!

Now, resume your Bid Day festivities!!
